Resilience taught me to adapt.
Empathy helps me listen.
Connection opens doors.
Strategy makes things possible.
This is the perspective I bring to every conversation.
About Me
I’m Kevin Boon, based in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia. For more than two decades, I’ve mentored startup entrepreneurs and small businesses, consulted with organizations, and helped teams navigate strategic challenges. My work has always been about helping people grow, supporting organizations as they evolve, and strengthening communities to become more resilient — here in Canada and beyond.
My path hasn’t been straight or flawless. I’ve faced my share of challenges — from job losses to business failures, from uncertainty to starting over. For years, I felt pressure to present only strength and hide the struggles. What I’ve learned instead is that failure isn’t the opposite of success — it’s part of the journey that shapes us.
Those experiences taught me what resilience really looks like: adapting, reimagining, and finding meaning when the way forward isn’t obvious. Today, I bring those lessons into my work — not just strategies and solutions, but the perspective of someone who’s walked through difficulty and come out stronger.
What I Believe
Authenticity • Collaboration • Resilience • Vision • Empathy • Connection
These values guide how I show up in work and life.
Authenticity keeps me grounded.
Collaboration brings out better ideas.
Resilience reminds me that strength often grows through struggle.
Vision helps me focus on opportunities that can genuinely transform people, businesses, and communities.
Empathy ties everything together — listening deeply and meeting people where they are.
And connection is the thread that runs through it all: linking people, ideas, and opportunities in ways that create meaningful, lasting impact.
Professional Background
I work as a fractional executive and consultant, a mentor to small businesses, and a trusted coach — helping people and organizations uncover opportunities, design solutions, and bring them to life. The best connections often happen organically: through honest conversations, shared ideas, and mutual trust.
Over the years, I’ve worked across diverse sectors — from startups and innovation hubs to community organizations and Canada’s marine industries — always with the same goal: to build capacity, strengthen confidence, and create lasting impact.
Connector at Heart
Much of my work is about creating meaningful connections. Sometimes that means helping an entrepreneur see an idea they hadn’t considered, or linking an organization to an opportunity they didn’t realize was possible. Other times, it’s about building relationships across borders.
When I hosted a Swiss delegation, for example, I didn’t just introduce them to Canadian businesses — I connected them with the Brazilian consulate and companies in Toronto, sparking conversations that reached far beyond the original plan.
For me, connection isn’t an extra — it’s at the heart of how I help people and organizations grow.
Personal Notes
I love the sense of community in our small Nova Scotia town — where music, art, adventure, and expression are woven into everyday life. For me, living fully means finding harmony between our inner and outer worlds: creating prosperity, nurturing relationships, exploring with curiosity, sharing humour, and caring for ourselves along the way.
Prosperity isn’t just individual achievement. It reflects a broader vision — one that includes family, community, and the mindset to seek and create opportunities. Not everyone is meant to be an entrepreneur, but everyone deserves meaningful work and a strong, supportive community. That’s why I care deeply about building resilient business ecosystems across Canada: supporting job growth, strengthening adaptability, and improving quality of life.
This is the perspective I bring to every project — blending strategy with humanity, and making sure the work we do together creates room for both growth and well-being.
South Shore Stories emerged from that same spirit — a love of people, place, and honest conversation. It’s a storytelling project rooted in the voices, experiences, and creativity of those who call Nova Scotia’s South Shore home.
