South Shore Stories - Coming in 2026
We’re launching a storytelling series celebrating the people, creativity, and resilience of Nova Scotia’s South Shore.
From artists and entrepreneurs to community builders and neighbours, everyone has a story worth sharing.
About the Project
What Is South Shore Stories?
South Shore Stories is a storytelling platform — part podcast, part YouTube series, part community archive — dedicated to capturing the voices, artistry, resilience, and lived experiences of those who call the South Shore home.
Episodes run 20–30 minutes (sometimes longer) and are filmed in a warm, intimate, conversational style. The series will be shared on YouTube, podcast platforms, and potentially on community radio stations such as COVE FM.
Why the South Shore?
Nova Scotia’s South Shore is a unique blend of heritage, community, creativity, and coastline. Its identity has been shaped by generations of families, newcomers, artists, tradespeople, marine workers, entrepreneurs, healers, and community builders.
This region has a voice. South Shore Stories gives it a platform.
What Makes It Distinct
Human-first storytelling — genuine conversations that honour real-life journeys
Place-based identity — celebrating creativity, resilience, and community
Emotional depth — touching on purpose, healing, and well-being
Local flavour — rooted in the towns and villages from Hubbards to Yarmouth
Pilot Series (6 Episodes)
The first six interviews will highlight people from across the region — artists, musicians, teachers, tradespeople, healers, entrepreneurs, and long-time locals.
Initial communities: Mahone Bay, Lunenburg, and Bridgewater, expanding to Hubbards, Chester, Liverpool, Shelburne, Barrington, and Yarmouth if there is interest in growing the series.
Audience & Impact
South Shore Stories will resonate with residents, newcomers, artists, small-business owners, community groups, and anyone seeking inspiration and connection.
The project strengthens local pride, builds cross-community ties, and showcases the South Shore as a place of creativity, resilience, and human warmth.
Your Host
Kevin Boon is a community-minded storyteller, and works as a business advisor and consultant in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia. Originally from Ontario, he moved to the South Shore in 2021 and was quickly drawn to the character of its coastal towns — Mahone Bay, Lunenburg, and Bridgewater.
After years of supporting founders and organizations across Canada, Kevin has always been inspired by the art of storytelling and the belief that everyone has a story worth sharing. A musician at heart, he performs with the Shantymen of Mahone Bay and hosts Open Mic events at Saltbox Brewery.
Through his platform Resilient Futures, Kevin helps people and organizations unlock potential, navigate change, and build more meaningful ways of working and living.
South Shore Stories reflects his belief that authentic storytelling strengthens the threads that hold communities together.
